Due to the current security situation, DHL Express will implement a temporary restriction on shipments above 30 kg to Ukraine effective Monday, October 5, 2026 - until further notice.

From this date, we will only accept shipments to Ukraine with a maximum weight of 30 kg per shipment.

To improve transparency and better describe the handling requirements that may apply to certain shipments, DHL Express will be updating the names of selected Additional Handling surcharges.
The current surcharge names:
  • Oversize Piece
  • Non-Conveyable Piece

Will be replaced by:

  • Additional Handling – Dimension
  • Additional Handling – Weight
  • Additional Handling – Packaging

This update is a change in naming only. There are no changes to surcharge application criteria, or business rules. The circumstances under which Additional Handling surcharges apply remain unchanged.

The updated surcharge names will be reflected on our website and in related customer communications from January 1, 2027.
Effective January 1, 2027, DHL Express will update the charge method for the Elevated Risk Surcharge.
Today, the surcharge is applied as a fixed amount per shipment. From January 1, 2027, the surcharge will be calculated as:
  • The higher of a fixed minimum charge per shipment or a charge per kilogram.
  • This change is intended to better align the surcharge with the handling and operational costs associated with different shipment weights.

Key points:

  • The Elevated Risk Surcharge will continue to apply only in the countries and circumstances defined in the applicable DHL Express surcharge policy.
  • The surcharge application criteria and business rules remain unchanged.
  • Only the charge methodology will change.
  • Contractual agreements and customer-specific surcharge arrangements, where applicable, will continue to be honored in accordance with their agreed terms.
The updated charge method and applicable rates will be reflected on our website and in related customer documentation from January 1, 2027.
Effective January 1, 2027, DHL will align the volumetric weight calculation for its DHL Economy Select service (DDI) with the DHL Express standard by changing the volumetric weight divisor from 4,000 to 5,000.
Shipments with large dimensions relative to their actual weight will have a lower calculated volumetric weight.
Example:
A shipment measuring 50x50x50 cm has a volume of 125,000 cm³.
  • Using the current divisor of 4,000: 125,000÷4,000=31.25 kg chargeable weight
  • Using the new divisor of 5,000: 125,000÷5,000=25.00 kg chargeable weight
Effective September 25, 2026, the Elevated Risk surcharge on all shipments to and from Israel is suspended. We will continue to closely monitor the safety situation and comply with guidance from the relevant authorities.

To maintain our service level during periods of peak demand, we will be activating a Demand Surcharge.

For Time and Day Definite International shipping services, a Demand Surcharge will apply effective October 1, 2026 to February 5, 2027.

For Time Definite Domestic shipping services, a Demand Surcharge will apply effective November 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026.
