Declarations Definitions

Every customs invoice must include a declaration.  We'll include the standard declaration on all customs invoices and you may also select an additional declaration that is appropriate to the types of goods being shipped and countries the goods have originated from and are being shipped to.

Below are declaration options and how they appear on a customs invoice.

Standard Default This declaration is always printed on every customs invoice DHL creates, for:
  • All shipments
  • All origin and destination countries
 I/We hereby certify that the information on this Invoice is true and correct and that the contents of this shipment are as stated above.
NAFTA The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is an agreement among the United States, Canada and Mexico designed to remove tariff barriers between the three countries. I hereby certify that the goods covered by this shipment qualify as Originating Goods for the purposes of preferential tariff treatment under NAFTA.
Preferential Origin Preferential origin is conferred on goods from particular countries, which have fulfilled certain criteria allowing preferential rates of duty to be claimed. I/We hereby certify that the information on this document is true and correct and that the contents of this shipment are as stated above. The exporter of the products covered by this document declares that, except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of <ORIGIN COUNTRY> preferential origin.
CITES  CITES is the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, an international agreement between governments that came into force in 1975. The import, export and use for commercial gain of certain species requires a CITES permit. I confirm the content of this shipment is not made of leather parts of animal species protected by the Washington Convention.
Preferential Origin and CITES This declaration is a combination of both Preferential Origin and CITES Declaration. I/We hereby certify that the information on this document is true and correct and that the contents of this shipment are as stated above. The exporter of the products covered by this document declares that, except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of <ORIGIN COUNTRY> preferential origin. With reference to the above shipment, I confirm the content of this shipment is not made of leather parts of animal species protected by the Washington Convention.
EUR-1 The EUR.1 movement certificate (also known as EUR.1 certificate or EUR.1) is a form used in international commodity traffic and is used to certify the origin of a product, and if applicable, benefit from favorable trade terms (tariffs mainly) under a preferential trade policy of the EU.  In order to benefit from the preferential rate during a customs clearance, a valid EUR.1 movement certificate must be handed over to the competent authority (likely a customs office), in which the manufacturer certifies the origin of the goods. I/We hereby certify that the information contained in this invoice is true and correct and that the contents of this shipment are as stated above. The exporter of the products covered by this document (customs authorization No ...............(1)) declares that, except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of .......................(2)(3) preferential origin.
Russia Declaration Should be used when sending dutiable goods from/to The Russian Federation. Our company guarantees that the shipping goods are not military related or goods of multiple application and don’t break the law of Russian Federation “About State Secret, copyrights and intellectual property”. / Наша организация гарантирует, что данный товар не является товаром военного назначения или двойного применения, и не нарушает законодательство РФ «О государственной тайне, об авторских правах и интеллектуальной собственности». Под меры нетарифного регулирования не подпадает.
