We encourage you to let us know at your earliest convenience by sending a screenshot of the suspicious SMS to phishing-dpdhl@dhl.com, include the suspicious phone number in the message. Until further notice, DHL Express will not accept shipments of military items subject to national export (or extra-territorial re-export) controls. Customers will be notified as soon as the suspension is lifted.

This suspension does not include domestic shipments or shipments of licensed dual-use items.

Here are some frequently asked questions on shipping epidemic prevention supplies (masks) for your reference, the final document and taxes requirement of each shipment is subject to the customs authority of the destination, please check with respective authority if needed.

Can I send Masks / Hand Sanitizers?

Up to now, there is NO restriction on sending epidemic prevention supplies (such as masks, gloves, goggles, etc.) for non-commercial purpose. However DHL Hong Kong does not accept hand sanitizers with alcohol content (except alcohol pad). For non-alcoholic hand sanitizers, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) is required to determine if it falls under “Dangerous Goods” category.

What documents are required to send Masks?

Sender is required to prepare the waybill and invoice (2 copies) for customs clearance; however different countries /regions may have different requirements for importing masks and other epidemic prevention supplies.

Given the significant impacts of COVID-19 on the global aviation industry and in order to help us maintain reliable and high quality delivery services for you and your customers, DHL Express introduced a temporary Emergency Situation Surcharge in early April.

Since the onset of this global pandemic, DHL teams have been working around the clock, adapting and adjusting the operations of our global network to align with new developments, regulatory requirements and constant changes in capacity and demand.

As market conditions continue to evolve with the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the Emergency Situation Surcharge (ESS) will be adjusted effective August 24, 2020.

We will make an adjustment for the following origin/destination combinations, and this adjustment reflects changes in market dynamics, air capacity availability and operational restrictions imposed related to COVID-19 measures from local governments:

  • Origins China, Hong Kong and rest of Asia to destination Australia and New Zealand:
    From HKD 14.70 p/kg to HKD 18.00 p/kg

Please note that this adjustment only affects shipments billed in Asia.

In what circumstances will the surcharge apply?

The Emergency Situation Surcharge will continue to be applicable to all Time Definite International (TDI) shipments.

The ESS will not be applicable to Day Definite International (DDI – road) or Time Definite Domestic (TDD) shipments. Life Sciences and Healthcare customers and DHL Medical Express (WMX) shipments continue to be exempt from the ESS.

We kindly ask you to ensure that your invoice approval cycles and processes have been updated accordingly, to avoid any delays.

Please note that the Emergency Situation Surcharge is a temporary charge, which allows us to cover part of the operating cost increases and the necessary air network adjustments. We will continue to evaluate and adjust the ESS as market conditions evolve for the duration of this emergency situation.

When shipping with DHL, several important security regulations & policies must be observed. DHL therefore reserves the right to physically inspect any item(s) tendered for carriage. Shipments lodged by our cash or credit card paying customers require 100% physical inspection. This policy is aligned with the legal and regulatory requirements of numerous governments  and other regulatory authorities for the express delivery industry to ensure that only legitimate shipments are processed.
Shipments may also be subject to other security control methods deemed necessary, such as X-ray without prior notice to the Shipper, Consignee and/or Payer.
Please note: Items sent as gifts (Birthdays, Festive or Seasonal Celebrations etc.) are subject to the same inspection(s) as noted above, so shippers are advised not to wrap gifts or seal shipments upon tendering.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, ad-hoc Service Ticket arrangement was implemented at Service Points to avoid crowds.
